The Association Between Apolipoprotein E Gene Polymorphism and In-Stent Restenosis After Extracranial and Intracranial Artery Stenting

Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability and death worldwide. In China acute ischemic stroke (AIS) accounts for approximately 70% of all strokes. As an important cause of AIS, large artery atherosclerotic stroke (LAAS) is characterized by high morbidity, disability rate, recurrence rate and mortality.1 –3 The safety and efficacy of stenting in preventing recurrence of stroke have been demonstrated;4,5 however, in-stent restenosis (ISR) remains a major limitation of endovascular treatment.
