The Beginning Of A Beautiful Friendship – The Withings ScanWatch Review

By now, I’ve been using fitness trackers for over a decade. With such a device strapped around my wrist day and night, I consider it an extension of my body; it’s essentially an organ to me. Since 2009, my go-to brand for such trackers has been Fitbit. I’ve had about 10 Fitbit trackers and always praised how it was the first device to include a smart sleep alarm; or the Holy Grail of health tracking. As such, I was continuously spreading the word and many bought Fitbit products because of that. But recently, I fell out with Fitbit. Excited about their new Fitbit Sense and its new health features such as stress management, ECG and SpO2 monitoring, I jumped on the hype train and placed an order in August. Fast-forward 2 months later and… I still haven’t received my unit. After going back-and-forth with their customer support for some 4 hours, they confirmed that they had lost my order. They offered me free shipping if I placed the order again, but that would cost around 30% more. Even though it’s clearly unfair to me, they didn’t seem to care or willing to do anything. The careless approach was accentuated by the fact that their customer support kept sending me pre-written messages, full of grammatical errors which felt like talking to a bot. It’s simply the worst experience I’ve had since Google acquired Fitbit. This was the last straw and I took the decision to not buy any more products from them.
