Ureteric Injury after Image-Guided Ablation of Renal Cell Cancer with Irreversible Electroporation

Irreversible electroporation (IRE) is postulated to have a lower risk for causing ureteric injury and potentially better preservation of renal function. A case is presented of ureteric injury after IRE of a renal cell carcinoma (RCC) adjacent to the left ureter, which was managed conservatively with retrograde ureteric stent placement. Formal institutional review board approval for this case report was waived. The ethical standards of the institutional and/or national research committee, the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki and its later amendments, and comparable ethical standards were followed.
