Effect of the defect localization and size on the success of third-generation autologous chondrocyte implantation in the knee joint

ConclusionThird-generation autologous chondrocyte implantation in ACI-treated femoral cartilage defects leads to a superior clinical outcome in a follow-up of three  years compared with patellar defects. No significant influence of the defect size was found in either femoral or patellar cartilage defects.
