Wednesday Bible Study: Deja vu

Well, that ' s why it ' s called Deuteronomy. The first part of Ch. 5 is basically transcribed from Exodus 20, then we get a recap of the events by which these commandments were delivered. BTW, it ' s merely a convention that there are ten of them. They aren ' t numbered in the Hebrew text and people disagree about where to divide them.As I have said before, I can only presume that D ' s motive in producing this book was to hit the high points of Exodus and Numbers while sneaking in some new laws and stories, in order to provide a single document as the basis for the new orthodoxy of the Second Temple regime.
