Re: what are the perceptions of interventional radiology amongst foundation doctors and how can awareness be improved?

Sir —We read with great interest the single-centre study by El Farargy et al.1 investigating the perceptions of interventional radiology (IR) amongst foundation year trainees. The authors reported that 45% of the 79 surveyed foundation doctors were only introduced to IR during their training posts an d concluded that the perceptions of IR by foundation doctors were generally poor due to a paucity of adequate knowledge. Although the authors briefly discuss several methods to improve awareness of IR as a specialty, we wish to contribute a few suggestions of our own.
