Off-pump coronary artery grafting (OPCABG) remains a viable option for surgical revascularization in certain patient groups. However, emergent conversion from off- to on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) has been associated with worse outcomes.1 The impact of surgeon experience has been studied and has demonstrated reduced conversion rates with more experience.2 In addition, several studies have shown an association of improved outcomes for CABG in high-volume centers.3,4 However, the interplay between hospital- and surgeon- volume on OPCABG conversion rates to on-pump CABG has not been extensively studied.
