Dowd and associates comprehensively detail many of the challenges encountered by the medical school admissions process in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, they highlight the difficulties of continuing laboratory-based learning which is an integral part of medical school perquisite coursework. While many colleges and universities have found ways to transition these classes to virtual formats, these moves may jeopardize students that are struggling academically or require special attention.
