Incarcerated Ring Pessary Repair Under Local Anesthesia

Vaginal pessaries (VP) are mechanical devices used as a viable conservative treatment for pelvic organ prolapse in order to avoid or postpone surgery [1-3]. When inserted into the vagina they provide physical support to the vaginal wall, reducing the prolapse, and relieving the pressure on the bladder and bowel [3]. While VP remains in situ, continuous follow up is required to avoid complications. The device must be removed and a thorough vaginal examination is performed to ensure the integrity of vaginal tissue and correct VP position [4,5].
