Prevalence and correlates of single and multiple unintentional non-fatal injuries among school-going adolescents in Liberia

Intentional or unintentional injuries are a major health concern in Liberia, a small low-income country of 4.2 million population located in West Africa [1]. Cause of death by injury (% of total) in Liberia was reported at 10% in 2016 [2]. In Liberia, “injuries contribute to 5.5% of total Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs), with 1.2% due to transport injuries and 3.0% due to unintentional injuries.” [1]. Liberia has experienced long periods of conflict resulting in violent injuries [3,4]. No data, however, were found on unintentional inju ry among young people in Liberia.
