Intravenous iron reduced rehospitalization risk in people with heart failure

(American Heart Association) Iron deficiency is present in about 50% of people with chronic heart failure. Patients with heart failure who also have iron-deficiency are more likely to have poor outcomes. Intravenous iron replacement with ferric carboxymaltose reduced the risk of heart failure hospitalizations in patients with iron deficiency after an episode of acute heart failure.
