The secreted acid trehalase encoded by the CgATH1 gene is involved in Candida glabrata virulence.
CONCLUSIONS: The acid trehalase is involved in the hydrolysis of external trehalose by C. glabrata, and the enzyme also plays a major virulence role during infectivity.
