State Government R & D Expenditures Decline 4 % in FY 2019 ; Health-Related R & D Declines 2 %

State government agency expenditures for research and development totaled $ 2.4 billion in FY 2019, down from $ 2.5 billion in FY 2018. Health-related R&D expenditures, despite a nearly 2 % decline from last year, continue to constitute the largest share ( 45 % ) of all state government agencies ’ R&D, with $ 1.1 billion in expenditures in FY 2019.
