Early recognition of school avoidance behaviors and prompt intervention are vitally important to keeping students on track. This presentation will give practical strategies for successfully addressing school avoidance in adolescents with school refusal secondary to disruptive behaviors and co-occurring substance use. The Comprehensive Adolescent Rehabilitation and Education Services (CARES) program at Mount Sinai St. Luke ’s provides an integrated approach to address both clinical and educational needs for teenagers and families.
