International clinical perspectives: global climate change effects on the health and mental health of children and families

Climate change is a crisis. We are witnessing extreme weather in the form of severe hurricanes, flooding, drought, and wildfires. Glaciers are melting and wildlife is at grave risk. Climate disasters cause extreme hardship and lead to poverty, poor nutrition, displacement, conflict, and war. Extreme weather is affecting our health by increasing food, water, vector-borne diseases, and emerging viruses, as well as air pollution from fires, which causes acute and chronic illness. Impoverished, marginalized, and indigenous communities are most vulnerable.
