57.2 ect in the pediatric inpatient setting
Children and adolescents with mental illness present in many settings of the health care system. Often, the entry point for care is through a children ’s hospital emergency department. If there is a medical concern or a shortage of psychiatric beds, these patients are admitted to the medical system. Consultation-liaison (CL) child and adolescent psychiatrists must provide clinical assessment, multidisciplinary education, coordination of care wit h the mental health system, and leadership of the treatment team.
