64.4 lights, camera, actors: models of experiential training for pediatricians using standardized patients +/- outpatient consultation

Standardized patients (SPs), or actors trained to portray clinical scenarios, can improve provider communication skills and confidence, yet they are infrequently used with primary care providers (PCPs). This session describes 2 models for experiential depression training using: 1) SPs; and/or 2) outpatient consultation. Data are presented regarding the effects of each aspect of training on PCP confidence and practices.
