65.1 child sex trafficking: an overview

Children and adolescents are pushed into trafficking on a daily basis. Adolescents are at a high risk of being trafficked compared to children. It is reported that there are 45 million people forced into modern-day slavery, and it is a $150 billion lucrative crime. This session aims to: 1) define child sex trafficking and provide an understanding of the action-means-purpose (A-M-P) model; 2) identify risk factors for sexual exploitation in children; and 3) share resources for empowering survivors in their recovery and for accessing support in the community.
