11.5 the telomere research network

The National Institute on Aging and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences launched the Telomere Research Network (TRN) to establish best practices for telomere length measurement in population-based studies and determine the role of telomeres as a marker of early exposures and a predictor of disease. The TRN has worked with telomere experts around the world to address current inconsistencies in the science related to population studies of telomeres. This presentation will outline the current controversies in telomere research related to the measurement of telomere length, inconsistent replications, and mechanistic pathways.
