Statins do not decrease coronary artery calcium (CAC) and may increase existing calcification or its density. Therefore, we examined the prognostic significance of CAC among statin users at the time of CAC scanning.

CONCLUSIONS: These data show the potential of statins as pharmacologic modulators of endocytic proteins for improved tumors' accumulation of monoclonal antibodies. The translational significance of these findings lies in the potential of statins to temporarily modulate the heterogeneous presence of receptors at the cell membrane, a characteristic often associated with poor response in tumors to therapeutic antibodies. In this study, we sought to elucidate the role of VRK-1 in regulation of adult life span in C. elegans. We found that overexpression of VRK-1::GFP (green fluorescent protein), which was detected in the nuclei of cells in multiple somatic tissues, including the intestine, increased life span. Conclusions: In a cohort of NAFLD-HCC patients, statin use was protective against HCC, while hypertension conferred an increased risk. Visceral adiposity at baseline was not a risk factor, but was higher in male patients before HCC development, declining in the majority by HCC diagnosis.

CONCLUSIONS: The evidence was of very low certainty, so we are unable to draw conclusions about the effectiveness and safety of statins to treat asthma. High-quality RCTs are needed to assess the effect of statins on people with asthma. Well-designed multicentre trials with larger samples and longer duration of treatment are required, which assess outcomes such as adverse events, hospital utilisation and costs, to provide better quality evidence. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest reduced neoatherosclerosis formation in magnesium-based BRS relative to DES.
