Gastric MALT Lymphoma with Biclonal Gammopathy and Bone Marrow Involvement Mimicking Multiple Myeloma.

Gastric MALT Lymphoma with Biclonal Gammopathy and Bone Marrow Involvement Mimicking Multiple Myeloma. P R Health Sci J. 2020 Sep;39(3):275-277 Authors: Cáceres-Perkins W, Cabanillas F, San Vicente G, Rivera-Franceschini C, Sobrino-Najul E, Vega-Vázquez LI, Conde-Sterling D Abstract Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphomas are B-cell neoplasms that commonly affect the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, usually the stomach. In most cases, extranodal marginal zone lymphoma (ENMZL) is an indolent disease. Bone marrow involvement is common with MALT lymphoma accompanied by paraproteinemia; such involvement impels disease progression. Here, we present the case of an 82-year-old Hispanic patient with long-standing ENMZL in whom the gastric site responded to antibiotic treatment and Helicobacter pylori eradication, but the disease progressed over the years, with a biclonal gammopathy and bone marrow involvement with marked plasmacytic differentiation. In view of this, we suggest the routine evaluation of paraprotein in patients with ENMZL. PMID: 33031697 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

We report the rare case of a patient co-existing NS and DLBCL. DLBCL might be pathogenesis of NS; the findings are supported by the presence of MN, an underlying malignancy (DLBCL), and the lack of anti-PLA2R antibodies. Although further investigation is warranted, our case suggests that DLBCL is a possible cause of secondary MN. PMID: 33028760 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSION: Our data suggest that these two polymorphisms do not contribute to AD in the population from the Mersin region of the Eastern Mediterranean. Further studies with larger sample sizes must be conducted to ascertain the association between the 2 polymorphisms. PMID: 33031695 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusions In conclusion, articles in this Research Topic made a very significant contribution to our understanding of the role played by environmental factors, dysbiotic conditions, and infections in triggering diseases. Since this is a rapidly expanding area of research, many other factors contributing to the onset of these diseases are not covered here. We are confident, however, that further studies will expand the list as well as bring a better understanding of mechanisms involved in the onset of autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases. Author Contributions All authors listed have made a substantial, direct and i...

In this study, 116 patients (M : F = 54 : 62; age, 53 ± 12 y) with a biopsy-proven gastric MALT lymphoma who initial 18F-FDG PET/CT. As 5 PET variables, the maximum standardized uptake values (SUV) of gastric MALT lymphoma (SUVgm) and whole stomach (SUVws), average SUV of whole stomach (SUVavg), gastric metabolic volume (GMV), total gastric glycolysis (TGG = SUVavg x GMV) were measured with a gradient-based technique that detects the steepest drop off in SUV values to create the contour boundary automatically (MIM encore, version 6.5.5). Age, sex, Ann Arbor stage, international prognostic index score, serum hemoglob...

Authors: Van Nuffel AM, Sukhatme V, Pantziarka P, Meheus L, Sukhatme VP, Bouche G Abstract Clarithromycin (CAM) is a well-known macrolide antibiotic available as a generic drug. CAM is traditionally used for many types of bacterial infections, treatment of Lyme disease and eradication of gastric infection with Helicobacter pylori. Extensive preclinical and clinical data demonstrate a potential role for CAM to treat various tumours in combination with conventional treatment. The mechanisms of action underlying the anti-tumour activity of CAM are multiple and include prolonged reduction of pro-inflammatory cytokines,...
