CONCLUSION: The ultrasonography measure of right liver lobe diameter by itself can reliably identify patients with NAFLD with a good sensitivity and specificity, however, this can be improved by adding the LAP mathematical index in our population. PMID: 33031969 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
AbstractRationaleN-acylethanolamine acid amidase (NAAA) is an intracellular cysteine hydrolase that terminates the biological actions of oleoylethanolamide (OEA) and palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), two endogenous lipid-derived agonists of the nuclear receptor, and peroxisome proliferator –activated receptor-α. OEA and PEA are important regulators of energy balance, pain, and inflammation, but recent evidence suggests that they might also contribute to the control of reward-related behaviors. Objectives and methodsIn the present study, we investigated the effects of systemic and intracerebral NAAA inhibition in the ...
ConclusionThe prevalence of reduced mobility among the diabetic older adults in the study is extremely high when compared with results from other studies conducted in Brazil and worldwide. Moreover, a decrease in mobility is one of the main risk factors for falls in older people. Therefore, intervention and health promotion actions should be proposed to maintain and improve the mobility and autonomy of the elderly.
Injury is the most common cause of death in Americans under the age of 46; 35-40% of all injured patients have evidence of psychoactive substance use and 40-50% of admitted patients have a current substance use disorder (SUD) diagnosis.[2 –4] Injuries encompass all external causes of death, including intentional harm against others or oneself, poisonings, vehicle crashes, falls, burns, and drowning. Psychoactive substances include alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, and both prescription and illicit opioids.
Weatherburn Some men who have sex with men (MSM) were assigned female at birth (AFB) and/or identify as trans men. Little is known about how these men differ from other MSM. We compared sexual and mental health indicators from the European MSM Internet Survey (EMIS-2017), comparing men AFB and/or currently identifying as trans men with those assigned male at birth (AMB) who identified as men. EMIS-2017 was an opportunistic 33-language online sexual health survey for MSM recruiting throughout Europe. We used regression models adjusting for age, country of residence and employment status to examine differences across gro...
ConclusionmiR-199a-5p might be an essentail regulator for hepatic lipid metabolism, possibly through its interction with MST1 and the subsequent signaling cascade. Thus, miR-199a-5p may serve as an important therapeutic target in the treatment of NAFLD.
