Time Trends and Prognostic Factors for Overall Survival in Myxoid Liposarcomas: A Population-Based Study.

Conclusions: In this large nationwide cohort, tumor size and tumor location were independent prognostic factors for OS. Furthermore, a higher probability of an RC tumor with increasing age was suggested. An increased use of RT over the years did not translate into improved OS for localized MLS. PMID: 33029074 [PubMed]

ConclusionPD during RPS resection is feasible, and it may be necessary to achieve complete resection. However, considering the complexity and risk, it should be performed by an experienced surgical team. The long-term survival benefit of this procedure should be verified by further large-scale multi-institutional studies.

Conclusions: Our study showed that the DLK1 gene induces tumorigenesis in various sarcomas and is associated with invasive mechanism in sarcoma. These results suggest DLK1 could serve as a possible therapeutic target in a variety of sarcomas. PMID: 32904069 [PubMed - in process]

AbstractPurposeTo describe clinical characteristics and identify prognostic factors among men with testicular sarcoma, and to compare survival with other testicular cancers.MethodsThe surveillance, epidemiology, and end results (SEER) database (1975 –2016) was queried to identify adults with testicular sarcoma. Multivariable Cox proportional hazards, Fine and Gray competing-risks regression, propensity score matching, and Kaplan–Meier analyses were used.Results230 men were included in this study. Median age at diagnosis was 58  years (range 18–94), and median OS was 10.3 years. Patients with tum...

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between sarcomas and LS by performing clinical and molecular characterization of patients presenting co-occurrence of sarcomas and tumors from the LS spectrum. We identified 27 patients diagnosed with CRC, EC, and other LS-associated tumors who had ...

This study aims to assess perilipins expression in subtypes of liposarcoma and various non-lipomatous sarcomas. Methods: A large set of 245 soft tissue sarcoma paraffin-embedded samples including 66 liposarcomas and 179 non-lipomatous sarcomas were collected for tissue microarray and immunohistochemistry to assess perilipins expression. Results: PLIN1 expression was shown in most liposarcomas (41/66) and was absent in non-lipomatous sarcomas (0/179). PLIN4 expression was shown in some liposarcomas (21/66) and was almost negative in non-lipomatous sarcomas (2/179). PLIN1 and PLIN4 expressions in liposarcoma were higher (both P

AbstractBackgroundTo elucidate the clinicopathological features, hospital-based care volume and prognoses associated with primary retroperitoneal sarcoma (PRS).MethodsClinical data on PRS cases, diagnosed from 2008 to 2009 (cohort A) and from 2012 to 2015 (cohort B), were obtained from the national hospital-based cancer registry in Japan. Since data on survival, 5  years after PRS diagnosis, were available only for cohort A, patient prognoses were analyzed in this group alone.ResultsThe numbers of participating hospitals were 154 in cohort A and 537 in cohort B. In total, 380 and 2011 patients with PRS were identified...
