ConclusionsWe have demonstrated that theVT (IDIF) of18F-FPP-RGD2, calculated using kinetic modelling, positively correlates with integrin αv and β3 protein in the liver of NASH rats. These findings suggest that hepaticVT (IDIF) provides a quantitative assessment of integrin αvβ3 protein in liver.

A developed therapeutic incorporates docetaxel into a polyvinyl alcohol network for dual ‐mode (temperature and pH) controlled release and utilizes silica‐protected iron oxide nanoparticles for magnetically targeted delivery and gold nanoparticles for plasmonic photothermal therapy. The targeted delivery of docetaxel and effective treatment of tumors both in vitro and in vivo confir m a successful design of a promising nanomedicine. AbstractA versatile breast cancer ‐targeting nanocomposite therapeutic combining docetaxel (DXL), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) network for controlled release, and silica‐protected magnetic i...

Emphysematous gastritis is a life-threatening diagnosis with high rate of mortality. It is a rare infection of the gastric and bowel wall caused by gas-forming bacteria, such as Klebsiella, Escherichia coli, and bacteria. In typical cases, gas is seen along the lining of the stomach wall in a nonlinear fashion on a computed tomography scan. Alcoholic, diabetic, and immunosuppressed patients are at highest risk. Symptoms are nonspecific. Many patients present with advanced presentation. Early diagnosis and aggressive management are key.

Mental health flows from the ceramic jug psychotherapist Lori Gottlieb keeps on her desk. There’s nothing special about the jug—a minor accessory in an office designed with the sort of tidy impersonality common to her field. And there’s no special elixir in it—just water. But all the same, the jug provides a certain kind of healing. When patients are struggling, crying, overcome in some way, Gottlieb, a Los Angeles based practitioner and author of the book Maybe You Should Talk to someone, will offer up a cup of water, pour it for them and hand it across. In that small gesture is a whole constellati...

Authors: Baek J, Jung SJ, Shim JS, Jeon YW, Seo E, Kim HC Abstract OBJECTIVES: We compared the associations of 3 computed tomography (CT)-based abdominal adiposity indexes with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) among middle-aged Korean men and women. METHODS: The participants were 1366 men and 2480 women community-dwellers aged 30-64 years. Three abdominal adiposity indexes-visceral fat area (VFA), subcutaneous fat area (SFA), and visceral-to-subcutaneous fat ratio (VSR)-were calculated from abdominal CT scans. NAFLD was determined by calculating the Liver Fat Score from comorbidities and blood tests. A...

CONCLUSIONS: Hanging is a common mechanism of self-harm. It is associated with significant injuries and mortality. The acute management of hanging should focus on airway protection followed by detailed imaging of the head and neck. Further work must attempt to include mortuary data on hanging. ConclusionThe phantom is anatomically realistic when imaged with intracardiac ultrasound and provides a smooth lumen for the ultrasound probe and catheter to manoeuvre. The vascular phantom enables validation of intravascular and intracardiac image guidance systems. The simple construction technique also provides a workflow for designing complex, multi-layered arterial phantoms.

Conclusions: One-third of intoxicated trauma patients have acute findings on h-CT. While the CCS was the best predictor of acute h-CT findings, hospital admission, and NSC, h-CT scanning should continue to be a standard of care.
