Obituary for Ian T. Jackson MBChB, FRCS, FACS, DSc(Hon) 1934-2020

Ian Jackson was born on Christmas Eve 1934. His formative education was in Scotland, graduating in Medicine from the University of Glasgow in 1959.His postgraduate education continued in Glasgow and included 2 years in Pathology, 3 years in General Surgery and 4 years training in Plastic Surgery. His time in Pathology instilled in him a questioning mind which was to remain throughout his career. He was trained by some of the most respected senior plastic surgeons of that time (Jack Tough, Tom Gibson, Jack Mustarde, Ian Macgregor) but was well aware of the necessity to explore outwith Scotland.
