Current Debates Regarding Optimal Patient Evaluation And Procedural Technique For Prostatic Artery Embolization

There are active debates surrounding patient evaluation and procedural techniques of prostate artery embolization (PAE). This review evaluates the available evidence on the value of urodynamics, the effect of prostate gland size, the benefits of pre- and intra-procedural cross- sectional imaging, the utility of a balloon-occlusion microcatheter, the differences among embolic particle sizes and types, and the merits of radial versus femoral arterial access.
