Randomised trial of external-beam radiotherapy alone or with high-dose-rate brachytherapy for prostate cancer: mature 12-year results.

CONCLUSION: At 12 years there remains a significant improvement in RFS after EBRT + HDR-BTb; both treatments were equitoxic for severe late urinary and bowel events and urethral strictures. PMID: 33011207 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Konat-Bąska K, Chicheł A, Staszek-Szewczyk U, Maciejczyk A, Matkowski R Abstract Purpose: Prostate and colorectal cancers are the first and the third most popular malignancies in male population, in which some patients may develop these tumors metachronously or synchronously. At present, there are no standard recommendations, and oncologists need to provide an optimal management for two different cancers with an acceptable risk of possible treatment of adverse effects. Material and methods: This case report presents the treatment of a 61-year-old patient suffering from synchronous prostate and rectal...

We report a case of a malignant cutaneous mixed tumor in an 86-year-old white man who presented with a pink indurated plaque on his left scapula. He had a history of nonmelanoma skin cancers, a stage IB malignant melanoma of a lower extremity and Gleason 4 + 3 prostate cancer treated with brachytherapy, external beam irradiation, and bicalutamide. A shave biopsy was performed and histologic examination revealed infiltrative single-unit atypical cells and small ducts in a superficially transected sclerotic dermis suggestive of a poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. No epidermal connection was identified. Immunohistochemica...

Conclusions: Our study suggests HypoF EBRT can be delivered in combination with HDR for patients with ntermediate-risk and high-risk adenocarcinoma of the prostate without increasing toxicity compared to SF with an HDR boost. PMID: 30038640 [PubMed]

The long-term clinical outcomes and overall prognosis of patients presenting with GS 10 PCa are largely unknown because of its rarity. METHODS AND MATERIALS: The study included 112 patients with biopsy-determined GS 10 PCa who received treatment with radical prostatectomy (RP, n = 26), external bea...
