Increased BMI is Protective Against Hypocalcemia in Patients Undergoing Total Thyroidectomy
Hypocalcemia after total thyroidectomy is common due to parathyroid dysfunction after surgery. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with obesity. We hypothesized that obese patients would have a higher rate of hypocalcemia after total thyroidectomy.
