Does the ISCHEMIA Trial Provide the Appropriate Cohort to Compare Anatomical and Physiologic Testing?

Since the presentation and subsequent publication of the International Study Of Comparative Health Effectiveness With Medical And Invasive Approaches (ISCHEMIA) trial, multiple intense debates erupted in the medical press and on social media on the implications of these findings on clinical practice.1 This landmark randomized clinical trial attempted to investigate whether revascularization in addition to optimal medical therapy could lower events in patients with moderate to severe ischemia on physiologic imaging.
