Is Arthroscopic Surgery Useful in Management of Prosthetic Temporomandibular Joint Failure? A Follow-Up Case Series

Prosthetic temporomandibular joints (PTMJ) are considered by many to be the treatment of choice for intra-articular end-stage temporomandibular joint disease and have been shown to improve range of motion and reduce pain. When patients who have initially undergone successful alloplastic joint replacement start showing delayed onset of increased pain and decrease in opening, the management becomes challenging. The authors have previously published their experience with arthroscopic management of failing prosthetic joints.
