paediatric gastrointestinal stromal tumour: An infrequent case of iron deficiency anaemia in an adolescent

Gastrointestinal tumors of stromal origin (GIST) are infrequent lesions, especially in childhood and adolescence. Although they can be found at birth, most become symptomatic at the end of the first or during the second decade of life. They generally have a nodular growth pattern with their surface frequently ulcerated, which can cause acute or chronic bleeding. Due to its submucosal growth, endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) is useful for their identification and differentiation between benign and malignant tumors.
