Differential expression of NKX 3.1 and HOXB 13 in bone metastases originating from prostatic carcinoma among the Egyptian males.

CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates that NKX3.1 and HOXB13 are more sensitive markers than PSA for the detection of prostate carcinoma metastatic to the bone following the decalcification process. We recommend use of NKX3.1 and HOXB13, rather than PSA, in the diagnosis of bone metastases originating from prostate cancer. PMID: 32979741 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Prostate cancer is common in men, but tumour of the male breast is rare. For these two tumours to be presented synchronously in a male patient is even rarer. The focus of this paper is the case of a 72-year-old man diagnosed with papillary ductal carcinoma in situ after he presented with a unilateral breast mass associated with nipple discharge. Imaging staging for his breast tumour and subsequent prostate biopsy found an incidental synchronous asymptomatic prostate adenocarcinoma as well as bone metastases. He denies risk factors for malignancies and refuses genetic testing. The first part of our discussion will highlight...

J Inorg Biochem. 2021 Mar 3;219:111408. doi: 10.1016/j.jinorgbio.2021.111408. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTReaction of dihydroartemisinin (DHA) with 4-methyl-4'-carboxy-2,2'-bipyridine yielded the new ester derivative L1. Six novel organometallic half-sandwich chlorido Rh(III) and Ir(III) complexes (1-6) containing pentamethylcyclopentadienyl, (Cp*), tetramethylphenylcyclopentadienyl (Cpxph), or tetramethylbiphenylcyclopentadienyl (Cpxbiph), and N,N-chelated bipyridyl group of L1, have been synthesized and characterized. The complexes were screened for inhibitory activity against the Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 (sensitive),...

Conclusions: [68Ga]-NeoBOMB1 uptake allowed detection of primary and metastatic lesions in patients with different tumor types, although tumor-specific uptake was variable and warrants further investigation. [68Ga]-NeoBOMB1 was well tolerated, with no related adverse events, consistent with the safety profile in previous studies. Whole-body dosimetry data were consistent with previous results in patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors.1 The findings support further clinical development of NeoB (formerly known as NeoBOMB1) in a theragnostic approach using [68Ga]-NeoB to identify patients with GRPR-positive malignancie...

This study is an important step forward in highlighting C1q as a new prognostic candidate biomarker for a range of carcinomas. Methods Oncomine Database Analysis The expression levels of C1QA, C1QB, and C1QC genes in various carcinomas were analyzed using Oncomine (www.oncomine.org), a cancer microarray database and web-based data mining platform from genome-wide expression analyses (22, 23). We compared the differences in mRNA level between normal tissue and carcinoma. The mRNA expression levels in neoplastic tissues compared to the healthy tissues were obtained as the parameters of p-value 2, and gene ranking in the t...

Conclusions: We found a highly reliable FI network, which revealed LIFR, PIK3R1, and MMP12 as novel prognostic biomarker candidates for GBC. These findings could accelerate biomarker discovery and therapeutic development in this cancer. Introduction Gallbladder cancer (GBC), the sixth most common gastrointestinal cancer, is an uncommon but challenging disease. Its incidence has recently increased highly worldwide (1). The risk factors for GBC include sex, aging, obesity, chronic cholecystitis, and cholelithiasis (2, 3). Because of the lack of an effective early diagnostic method, the disease often is not diagnosed ...

Despite advances in the development of strategies for treating EC, prognosis of the disease remains unsatisfactory, especially for advanced EC. The aim of this study was to identify novel genes that can be used as potential biomarkers for identifying the prognosis of EC and to construct a novel risk stratification using these genes. Me...

This study aimed to investigate whether combining anti-PD-L1 Atezolizumab with BEV may have a synergistic effect and enhance the efficacy of both treatments in cisplatin resistant epithelial ovarian cancer (CREOC). We retrospectively analyzed 124 epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) patients from Gynecologic Oncology Department of Tianjin Cancer Hospital between January 2013 and June 2018, who all were diagnosed with cisplatin resistance due to progressing
