The aggression of the endothelium could be responsible for the visceral lesions observed after clamping of the coeliac aorta
Complex aortic surgeries may be complicated by various visceral lesions. Our assumption was that these damages could be in relation with visceral ischemia/reperfusion caused by the operation. Glycocalyx, a component of the endothelial membrane, is implied in severe pathological situations. The aim of our work was to explore the glycocalyx pathway as a causal link between visceral ischemia/reperfusion related to aortic clamping and the damages of remote organs.
