Bariatric surgery

Obesity presents a growing public health crisis which has significant impact for individuals and healthcare provision worldwide. Mounting evidence from randomized controlled trials would suggest that bariatric surgery, irrespective of the procedure performed, is the most effective treatment currently available for obesity and related comorbidity. Given the increasing prevalence of obesity within all populations, clinicians in all specialties will treat patients with obesity and likely those who have had bariatric surgery.
