Intraoperative MR-adaptive Interstitial HDR Brachytherapy for Advanced Gynecological Cancers
MR-adaptive interstitial brachytherapy uses MRI imaging (+/- CT) after each needle insertion to provide treatment plan adaptation and customization. Our previous interstitial workflow involved recovery from general anaesthesia (GA) with needles in place, with patients in discomfort for>36 hrs during MRI/CT imaging, treatment planning, treatment and needle removal. In addition, patients were admitted overnight to allow for two HDR treatments for each interstitial insertion, causing further distress and pain.
