First Report of the Integration of Virtual Reality Relaxation in a Radiation Therapy Department
Virtual Reality (VR) has been successfully utilized to reduce stress and to promote relaxation. Within the healthcare environment it has been effectively used as distraction therapy to reduce procedural and chronic pain in various clinical contexts. It has been also used as distraction therapy in cancer-related settings, such as chemotherapy. To our knowledge, this is the first study to evaluate the use of VR as a relaxation technique for radiation oncology patients, family/friends and staff.
