This study aimed to investigate the accuracy of bilateral simultaneous tympanometric measurements using a tympanometer with two pneumatic systems inside circumaural ear cups. Method Fifty-two adults (104 ears), with a mean age of 32 years (SD = 12.39, range: 18-60 years) were included in this study. Conclusions: Bone conduction VEMP response rates were increased compared with air-conduction VEMP response rates in ears with cochlear implants. Ears with cochlear implants also demonstrate changes in low-frequency absorbance consistent with a stiffer system. This effect was largest for ears that had absent air conduction but present bone conduction VEMPs. In this study, we measured in vivo vibration responses in 11 gerbils while varying the middle-ear pressure quasi-statically, with the ear canal at ambient pressure.
