Ubiquinol Supplementation of Donor Tissue Enhances Corneal Endothelial Cell Mitochondrial Respiration

Conclusions: Preliminary testing in donor corneal tissue at specified doses indicates that ubiquinol may be a useful biocompatible additive to hypothermic corneal storage media that increases corneal endothelial cell mitochondrial function. Additional investigations are indicated to further study and optimize the dose and formulation of ubiquinol for use in preserving donor corneal tissue function during hypothermic storage.
