Infertility: a weight-bearing exercise?

In this issue of Fertility and Sterility, Dr. Vitek and colleagues (1) outline compelling evidence that women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) gain weight during fertility treatment. This is important because Dr. Vitek pulls her data from the Reproductive Medicine Network ’s Assessment of Multiple Intrauterine Gestations from Ovarian Stimulation and Pregnancy in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome trials. Given the resources that fuel such trials, participants presumably have better access to reliable information, education, support, and follow-up than most women in need of fertility care.
