Well-positioned Always to Adapt

Kudos to the phenomenal and extremely successful ASE2020 Virtual Scientific Sessions held August 8-10, 2020! Transitioning to an all-virtual experience on short notice was a Herculean effort, or perhaps Odysseus would be a more appropriate metaphor given the unchartered waters but the SS committee and ASE dedicated staff pulled it off beautifully. I hope by June of 2021 it will be safe to return to an in-person conference, but I think the new reality is that virtual presence is going to be a component of all major scientific meetings going forward due to the clear tangible benefits of increased access and flexibility.
