It Has Been Quite a Year —And the USASP Was Born

There had been no thoughts of a US Association for the Study of Pain (USASP), at least that we were aware of, prior to the fall of the American Pain Society (APS). But the dust had not even begun to settle on the news that the members of the APS had voted to file for Chapter 7, when we started discussions with friends and colleagues about whether there were any other pain research organizations in the United States that reflected the multidisciplinary nature of the field and therefore could meet the needs of the US-based pain researchers.
