Clinical and imaging response to tumor necrosis factor alpha inhibitors in treatment of cardiac sarcoidosis: a multicenter experience
Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous inflammatory disease. Cardiac involvement has been reported in up to 25% of cases of sarcoidosis. [1] Cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) is a major cause of death in patients with sarcoidosis, and morbidity is associated with granulomatous inflammation which results in conduction disease, ventricular arrhythmia and cardiomyopathy leading to heart failure. [2] The mainstay of medical therapy is immunosuppression in the form of corticosteroids with the possible addition of a steroid sparing agent.
