Lessons from the triennial analysis of serious case reviews
Serious Case Reviews (SCRs) provide an important opportunity for professional learning when children have died or suffered serious harm from abuse or neglect. The triennial SCR analysis seeks to identify themes across SCRs to inform practice and guide the development of new strategies in order to prevent future harm to children. Neglect is a key feature of most serious case reviews; it is a complex issue with multiple contributory factors accumulating over time. Neglect is linked with unfavourable outcomes at individual and societal levels.
