A Rash Diagnosis: BCG and Kawasaki Disease
A 9-month-old Japanese girl presented with a one week history of fever, irritability, bilateral non-exudative conjunctivitis, erythematous lips, and a rash on her left arm (Figure). Following laboratory evaluation she was diagnosed with Incomplete Kawasaki Disease and treated successfully with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and aspirin. The rash subsequently resolved over a period of several weeks.
