Emergency Use Authorizations During the COVID-19 Pandemic

This Viewpoint describes the FDA ’s Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of hydroxychloroquine for treatment of COVID-19 and its subsequent revocation, and suggests improvements to the EUA process during development of COVID-19 vaccines and for future public health crises.
