Glycemic profile of women with normoglycemia and gestational diabetes mellitus during early pregnancy using continuous glucose monitoring system
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is defined as hyperglycemia with onset or recognition for the first-time during pregnancy, which is not overt diabetes [1]. GDM is associated with an increased risk of adverse health outcomes for both the mother and her baby during pregnancy as well as in the postpartum period [1]. The criteria for diagnosis of GDM have evolved over the past few decades. While the earlier criteria were based on future risk of maternal type 2 diabetes [2,3], the recently introduced IADPSG (International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups)criteria define GDM in terms of adverse pregnancy outcomes [4].
