Spider mites are notorious agricultural pests worldwide. A male adult ofTetranychus truncatus is waiting for mating with a female. Spider mites harbor diverse bacterial communities, whose structure could be affected by many factors. We found that host species is the primary determinant of the microbiome composition of spider mites. Also, the microbiome of spider mite feces potentially reflects the gut bacterial community in spider mites (see pages 859 ‐868).
