Severe Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis

A 50-year-old man presented with a 43-year history of multiple hyperkeratotic plaques on his face, trunk, and extremities. Warty papules first appeared on his hands 43 years ago, and then gradually scattered over the whole body. The papules enlarged to form large vegetating hyperkeratotic masses (Figure  1). Hand function and life quality was severely impaired. No one else in the patient’s family was similarly affected. Skin biopsy showed hyperkeratosis, thickening of the stratum spinosum, and vacuolated cells with clear, light-blue pale cytoplasm in the upper epidermis.
