Selecting a metabolic procedure

In SOARD, Aminian published a review article about remission rates of type 2 diabetes (T2D) after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGBP) and sleeve gastrectomy (SG) based on four randomised control trials which have data to compare these two procedures after five years [1]. Combined analysis (n=351) found no statistical significant difference in remission rates at five years. Although a trend towards greater remission after RYGBP, the difference at best favours RYGBP by 15%. He argued for a balanced view when selecting a metabolic procedure.
