Abstract Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) deficiency is an autosomal recessive disorder that results in hyperhomocysteinemia. Elevated homocysteine levels in the blood can cause arterial and venous thrombosis, atherosclerosis, recurrent pregnancy loss, and neurologic symptoms.
